In yesterday's tutorial, I walked you through how to make Paper & Lace Snowflake Ornaments.  Today, I'm going to show you a few things you can do differently to get a bit of a different look.

Unlike the snowflake from yesterday, I really wanted this one to have an "antique" look to it.  Other than the plastic snowflake and the fake flower, all of the materials used for this one were more of a beige shade.

Let's get started, shall we?

Adjustment 1: CONE PLACEMENT
For a larger snowflake, you can just move the cones out to the edge of the "base" as shown above, but be sure to use extra glue so they stay in place.

Adjustment 2: WIDER LACE
For a larger "flower", simply use wider lace.

Adjustment 3: FLAT LACE FLOWER
By sewing the slip stitches closer together in the lace, your "flower" will be flatter.
For a thicker "flower", sew the slip stitches further apart.

Adjustment 4: DOUBLE "BASE 2"
Even though I'd already glued a "base" on top of the layer of cones, I punched a larger 1 3/8" circle out of cardstock to put under the lace for extra support for the lace.  It worked well.

Adjustment 5: EXTRA MUSIC LAYER
Since the lace "flower" was larger, I thought there needed to be something extra between the lace and the fake flower.  I added a punched out 1 3/8" circle of sheet music behind the flower.

Here's how it turned out...
